My Top 3 Goals as a Content Creator

My Top 3 Goals as a Content Creator

A couple weeks ago, I was invited to Amazon’s Holiday Soirée. When I showed up to the event space and they passed me my badge with my name and brand on it, I definitely had a pinch me moment. I have been consistently blogging and creating content since 2018. To be in a space with other amazing content creators, tv personalites, and members of the press was beyond surreal. Every time someone asked me who I was there to represent, I said, “Myself.” And then, of course, I introduced them to my brand, Surgery And The City.

There are so many amazing opportunities I have stepped into over the past 4 years. I am living proof you do not have to have a million follower social media count to be successful as a content creator; to be noticed as a content creator. God is great and has definitely been showing me favor. I wanted to share some of my top goals for my brand today because I truly believe in speaking things into existence. I think it will be amazing to look back on this blog post years from now and see just how much I accomplished…and more.

Surgery And The City will be a major lifestyle brand: I’m talking book deal, major brand collaborations, creating product, my name in lights. I see myself doing all of these things. There are so many fashion girls who have done collaborations with Amazon, Nordstrom, and the like to produce beautiful clothing we all know and purchase. I want that for me too. Colorful, tasteful, chic palettes that can be worn to work and then seamlessly transition to afterhours. From bedside to outside…that’s my motto as you all have seen on my Instagram page. I want to try my hand at design and be able to walk down the street seeing my creations.

I will scale my business to a multimillion dollar company: Y’all, there is BANK in this influencer marketing industry. I was never one of the creators who said, “I’m just doing this for fun.” Nah. I had the foresight to know I can make this brand a lucrative one way before I started. And I am doing just that. I have goals to own a brownstone in Harlem. I already know the exact street. I want a condo and a home in Atlanta. I want these student loans paid off and I want to establish a legacy of generational wealth. Yes, I am a doctor, but to be quite honest, I make much more as an influencer. That’s where the real money is. And I will continue to do both. I met a PR agent at the Amazon Party this past Tuesday. I had already pitched myself to the brand she represents. She approached me saying, “Are you Surgery And The City?” Another pinch me moment! As we talked, I brought up the fact I want to own a home in Harlem. Her response? “Well let’s get you some partnerships then!” Come on Somebody!! I am just putting it out there. SAC is on the rise.

I will ensure more learners have the resources they need to succeed in medical school. I will help create more Black doctors. Emphasis on the Black because only 5% of US physicians are Black and our communities need us. I am beyond ecstatic my platform is being used to help students and ensure they are not thrown away when they contend with test taking issues. I have been on the telephone with students walking them through how to appeal a school dismissal. I have spoken for multiple college pre-med groups, telling my story and encouraging them to never give up. I have shared resources on resources about test taking strategy and how to navigate the medical field as a non-traditional student. It means something beyond words when y’all reach out to let me know you passed an exam, earned a scholarship, got residency interviews, and so much more. In 2018, I had no intention of sharing my journey as a non-traditional medical student. I was so worn out and just needed an escape from it all. I am so glad I took the plunge and shared my truth. I have literally seen dismissals overturned after coaching students through. All God!! I realize my voice, my truth, and my narrative are needed in this space and I will continue to be a voice for the non-traditional path through medicine. I will continue to ensure students who struggle with test taking are not thrown away. I definitely see an academic/mentorship arm within my practice in the future. I definitely see scholarships for students who fail STEP 1 and lose financial aid in my future. We have doctors to create.

I am speaking and writing into existence what will come to pass. I have been watching the Transformation Church CrazyER Faith sermon series and it’s BEYOND POWERFUL. I am doing the work, believing in God, and SPEAKING LIFE. Consider this me acting out Habbukuk 2:2. I thank you all for reading. I thank you for following along. I thank you for cheering me on. This time of year, I always reflect on the goals I set for SAC in January and the goals I will set for next year. I am so pleased with my progress and cannot wait to write out my goals for 2022. For those who have asked me questions about the content creator space and how I find my version of success, definitely check out these blog posts.

Until next time.
