Let’s Talk about My Mane!

Let’s Talk about My Mane!

One of the main questions I get asked—in grocery store, at the mall, at the hospital, in my church—is what products I use in my hair. I love the question because I looooove talking all things natural hair! My hair requires time, love, and attention, but it’s my crown and glory, so I don’t mind giving it. I feel so special that people (especially strangers) trust me to ask what I use to accomplish healthy hair, growth, and length retention! I figured it was time to provide an updated hair post. Read the first one here! Not much has changed to my regimen, but I wanted to share the products, what I use them for, and why I love them so y’all can have a quick and easy point of reference!

SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Conditioner – amazing conditioner! So much slip! I condition before washing so I only have to step into the shower once.

Cream of Nature Detangling and Conditioning Shampoo – wash every other week! Leaves my hair extremely detangled and easy to comb. No other shampoo melts my curls like this one! Been using it since the early 90s. If it ain’t broke…

SheaMoisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Leave In Treatment – apply right after washing. Pretty much a continuation of the detangling process. Begins to add back moisture after shampooing.

Qhemet Biologics Olive & Honey Hydrating Balm+ SheaMoisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Milk+The Mane Choice Multi-Vitamin Scalp Nourishing Hair Growth Oil– I use these at the same time in a 3:2:1 ratio! (it matters! Ha!) I spritz each section of hair with water and aloe vera juice and then apply these products and style. After a couple days post-shampoo (my hair is very dense), these products have my mane feeling super soft, super silky, super defined.

Quick Facts!

I wash my hair every other week.

Can’t live without this spray mister!

I trim my own hair about every 6-9 months with these!

I haven’t straightened my hair in 4 years! I had a lot of heat damage and I don’t wanna deal with that again. The most I’ve done is blow dry my hair to stretch it. I’m sure I will straighten in again at some point in the future, but I definitely won’t make a habit of it.

I start just about every hairstyle with a 2-strand twist out.

My hair stays in an updo during the week for growth (leave your hair alone and it grows!) and convenience (gotta fit that hair under a scrub cap!)

I like my hair best when it’s off my neck and face. I will be starting a YouTube channel for hair tutorials and MedTalks in the near future!📺💕

And there you have it! My mane essentials! Ever tried these products? Let me know below!

Anya

Thanks for sharing! My product stash needs an overhaul. I own no moisturizers or balms.
